Jana Nel’s latest ceramic collection will be launching early November 2021. Due to the inherent artistic nature of each ceramic piece, they are produced in smaller batches to ensure that the quality and signature look-&-feel is as consistent as possible.
“I truly strive for uniformity & perfection, however, slight variation in design, shape and glaze colour may occur. This exemplifies the handmade process to craft unique ceramic pieces and homeware accessories. These characteristics should not be considered flaws, but reflects the inherent beauty and individual quality of each piece.”
Extensive hands-on involvement is required, each piece starts off as a simple ball of clay, wedged, hand-rolled & shaped into it's final form. Once formed, the clay needs to dry slowly & naturally to avoid cracks. Each piece undergoes 3 separate kiln firings before it's considered an end-product.
Other than the kiln, no other form of machinery is used in the entire production process.
