There is something deeply special about seeing your home through someone else's eyes.

This week, I had the joy of taking my best friend from Singapore to La Petite Colombe. She was visiting South Africa with her husband and her in-laws, and I wanted them to experience more than just a beautiful meal - I wanted them to experience a piece of who we are.

From the moment we arrived, there was an unmistakable sense of anticipation. Every course that followed wasn't simply food on a plate; it was a story, a conversation, a celebration of craftsmanship. The creativity, precision, and quiet confidence of each dish reminded us why South Africa has earned its place on the global culinary stage.

But what made the afternoon unforgettable wasn't only the exceptional dining.

It was hearing their admiration for the attention to detail, the warmth of the service, and the beauty of the experience. Seeing people you love fall in love with a place that means something to you is a feeling that's difficult to put into words.

Hosting friends from abroad always reminds me that travel isn't only about ticking destinations off a list. It's about creating memories that become part of your story. Sometimes the most meaningful souvenirs are the conversations, the laughter, and the feeling of being welcomed around a table.

As we left, they couldn't stop talking about the experience. Knowing they would carry that memory of South Africa home with them filled me with quiet pride and gratitude.
