Royal Malewane | Day 3

On most private safaris in Southern Africa, guests are guided on specialised Toyota Land Cruisers by a ranger who drives the vehicle and by a tracker who sits on an especially precarious seat at the front of the bonnet. The tracker’s job is to find elusive wildlife. To notice and interpret nature’s subtle clues through acutely honed senses while the ranger engages with the guests and ensures safe passage.

There is no bond stronger than the indelible and intuitive connection between a ranger and a tracker. Wild adventures, unique encounters and proud achievements punctuate their derring-do filled days. Watch our video below which explains more about this incredible team.

On our last day spent at Royal Malewane our expert ranger, Matt, and our tracker, Shadow - helped track down some of the most elusive wildlife found in the Kruger Park. We stumbled upon a tower of giraffes, pride of lions and a White Rhino and her calf. We also spent the afternoon looking at different bird species found in the region.

After our game drive, Matt made a quick pitt stop. The beautiful staff had prepared a Gin and Tonic setup - and we cooled off from the warmth of the afternoon sun with a beautiful strawberry infused Six Dog gin and tonic drink. We nibbled on the canapés and quickly proceeded to our bush dinner. The staff prepared a homely meal and welcomed us with big smiles. It was the perfect end to our trip and we can’t wait to visit again.

Special thank you to all the staff who became like family in the last few days. This isn’t goodbye, just see you later. Till we meet again.
