Royal Silo | Cape Town

I had the pleasure of celebrating my 33rd birthday at the Royal Silo in Cape Town this year and what a truly unforgettable experience it was to say the least. We booked an afternoon flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town and were greeted by clear skies and warm weather.

Upon our arrival we were collected by a driver which was kindly organised by the hotel ground staff. We were guided to the parking lot and swiftly made our way towards the hotel.

The Silo is a sanctuary in the city celebrating art, style, and design. This architectural masterpiece towers above the V&A Waterfront and is defined by its shimmering pillowed-glass windows which offer panoramic views stretching from Table Mountain to the Table Bay harbour.

The Silo Hotel luxury accommodation occupies six floors above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) which houses Africa’s largest collection of contemporary African art. We decided on an empty itinerary and to play it by ear.

We stayed in the beautiful family duplex suite - which had the most incredible view of Lions Head and Table Mountain. The suite was big enough to accomodate 4.

The double-storey, two-bedroom Family Duplex Suites are situated on the 7th floor with views across the harbour and mountains or out over the V&A Waterfront and Signal Hill. Ranging from 111m2 (1195ft²) to 128m2 (1378ft²), they also feature a balcony. The second bedroom is designed with younger guests in mind.

Breakfast at the Granary, Silo.

A special thank you to the Royal Portfolio for hosting me - there is nowhere else i’d rather stay when visiting Cape Town!
