Taste of Waldorf Astoria
FOOD & LIFESTYLE
I was invited this month to the third annual Taste of Waldorf Astoria culinary competition event held at the newly-opened Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills to reign this year’s winning dish pairing from Waldorf Astoria Park City.
As I sat in the plane I had a little pinch-me-moment as I was still in disbelief that I was headed to Los Angeles for such a prestigious event. I've always had a deep and passionate love with food and I was excited for this year's Taste of Waldorf challenge, "Fifth Hour: Bar + Bites," a contemporary update to the time-honored ritual using innovative themes that mirror
the sophisticated and modern style of each property. With the goal of expanding bar offerings beyond traditional drinks and appetizers, each chef duo had to create two small bites that pair perfectly with an original cocktail and mocktail. The journey from plate to palate and chefs’ ability to create a truly unforgettable food and beverage pairing was a key component of the judging criteria.
This year’s panel included Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Adam Rapoport, Erik Bruner-Yang and Taste of Waldorf Astoria Chef and Vice President, Marc Ehrler. Thank you for having me, Waldorf Astoria I had a great experience documenting the little plates of artwork paired with theatrical drinks to go! What a night to remember.
