Top This Bun Challenge
I love a bit of a challenge and when Woolworths approached me to jazz up the humble hot cross bun I couldn't quite say no. I decided to approach the campaign by coming up with 9 different but easy toppings for the traditional Woolworths Hot Cross bun which can be prepared in under 10 minutes. All these ingredients are available in store. I've prepared a step-by-step guide on how to recreate these 9 savoury but sweet HCB's. Enjoy and let me know your thoughts!
STEP ONE
Prepare Toppings: Blueberries, Radish, Figs, Strawberries, Salmon, Cherry tomatoes, Avocado & Cucumber.
STEP TWO
Buy two packets of Hot Cross buns as they come in single packets of six. Arrange the nine hot cross buns to be sliced in half and save the other half to be used later. Apply a generous amount of cream cheese to the base of each hot cross bun.
STEP THREE
Add desired toppings and seasoning as you wish. I have selected toppings which are in season.
STEP FOUR
Enjoy with friends and family!
CHALLENGE TWO
For the second Hot Cross Bun topping creation - I decided to create a dessert which consists of a small as well as a medium sized hot cross bun. By slicing them in halves and adding Nutella, sliced bananas, strawberries and whipped cream I was able to create this beautiful mess in just 5 minutes. I hope my hot cross buns have inspired you to get a little more inventive this Easter! ;)

In an attempt to retain the grand, historic public rooms of the 1860s and 1920s - of which the Café Royal was famed for - these Grade II listed spaces have been carefully restored.
I had the pleasure of staying here for two nights - come and see my photo diary and what I got up to.
