Live Green.
I've never been much of a morning person but i've started changing my lifestyle as of late. By some miracle I managed to get up at 6:00am for a yoga and meditation session with the incredibly talented Kate Kendall (director of yoga at Flow Athletic) for the launch of Simple Skincare's feel good cleansers.
Recently i've started a long term lifestyle change which involves eating organic raw greens, nuts and healthy fats and I can't begin to say what a change of energy I now have. Waking up in the morning isn't as much of a struggle and I feel less lethargic throughout the day. Three years ago I rarely exercised and had no consistent workout routine. Getting fit wasn't something that mattered but when work began to take a mental and physical toll on me, I started feeling more tired as well as anxious and I soon realised the importance of exercising for both my mind as well as body.
I was always an active kid when growing up - I did ten years of ballet and played netball and hockey, but once I started my architecture degree I gave up the notion of exercising and the endless amount of all-nighters would always result in eating lots of sugary food. It wasn't until this year that I stumbled across Kayla Itsines on Instagram and was inspired to get back to eating clean and training again. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed my new lifestyle and was becoming more stronger and leaner to a point where my evening runs didn't feel like exercise anymore. I have noticed a real difference in my mental wellbeing and body and i've gained a renewed sense of confidence.
A big thank you to the team at Simple Skincare for hosting such a beautiful morning and for reminding me to love myself.
