Travel is Always a Good Idea
It's been a rather busy week for me and this trip seriously couldn't have come at a better time. Because of the nature of my job, weekends have become extremely precious to me. Ideally it'd be great to spend my free time at home, dressed in the comfort of my pyjamas, ordering in and burying my nose deep in novels and napping when I pleased. However, most of my weekends are spent shooting new content for clients as well as attending meetings.
I suppose that’s what makes that rare 'free weekend' so special. The fact that it's so incredibly different from my chaotic-jam-packed work days, bookends to a different sort of life. What are weekends, really, without work days to define them? Sometimes I can't help but wonder who decided that a weekend should only be two days and not three, who?
There is more pressure now to make the most of our weekends. Forget lazing the day away in pyjamas, every minute of the weekend seems to be accounted for when working full time. Every activity is well thought out in advance and every meal, hike, trip is a picture of perfection on Instagram and Facebook. Sometimes it's important to remember to live according to your own at the end of the day. To stay authentic, centered and focused. We get so caught up in portraying an unrealistic depiction of our lives we let those beautiful moments slip by. Work towards the day where you're doing what you love most, with those you love :)
P.s A special mention to the team at Land Rover for arranging this Land Rover Evoque for me for my weekend getaway. Since 1948, Land Rover has been manufacturing authentic 4x4s that represent true 'breadth of capability' across the model range. I was lucky enough to test drive the luxurious Evoque 2016 model and was left astounded at the meticulous attention to the interior detailing as well as the slick exterior.
In an attempt to retain the grand, historic public rooms of the 1860s and 1920s - of which the Café Royal was famed for - these Grade II listed spaces have been carefully restored.
I had the pleasure of staying here for two nights - come and see my photo diary and what I got up to.
