Akyra Manor Chiang Mai
Angela and I decided to visit Chiang Mai for the annual lantern festival in Thailand. We opted for a two night stay at Akyra Manor. The hotel is within close proximity to many local eateries as well as massage parlours! Access to tuk tuk’s was very convenient too.
We decided to attend this two day lantern festival which happens once a year in Chiang Mai. I’d highly recommend booking transport to and from the ticketed event with your hotel if possible as transport gets quite manic on the day of the event with thousands of visitors trying to get in and out of the event. Nothing can quite explain the beauty of watching thousands of lanterns light up the sky before your eyes. I can’t wait to experience this again and couldn’t have asked to end the year on a better note.
I really loved how the hotel was also located in close proximity to Wat Lok Moli as well as Wat Suan Dok. Both a quick 5 minute drive from the hotel - it proved to be the perfect base for discovering Chiang Mai. This was an incredibly special stay and I can’t wait to be back!

In an attempt to retain the grand, historic public rooms of the 1860s and 1920s - of which the Café Royal was famed for - these Grade II listed spaces have been carefully restored.
I had the pleasure of staying here for two nights - come and see my photo diary and what I got up to.
